Death Threats Against Salman Khan and Zeeshan Siddiqui

Noida: A 20-year-old man has been arrested in Noida over death threats allegedly sent to Bollywood actor Salman Khan and Zeeshan Siddiqui, son of the recently assassinated NCP (Ajit Pawar) leader Baba Siddique. This incident is reminiscent of the tragic murder of Baba Siddique, who was shot near his son‘s office in Bandra on October 12. The threat demanded ransom payments, which links the intimidation to a suspected ongoing vendetta against the Siddiqui family and Salman Khan.

The police arrested Gufran Khan on transit remand while claiming that the threats had been issued to Zeeshan Siddiqui’s office. Police identified another person involved in the threat as Mohammed Tayyab, who was arrested after the FIR was filed soon after the complaint from Siddiqui‘s office that indicated the gravity of the situation due to the Siddiqui family‘s ordeal.

Background: Salman Khan's History with Death Threats

The threats to Salman Khan and Zeeshan Siddiqui are not isolated incidents. The Bollywood star had received death threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, which members were involved in major criminal activities. This group was said to have threatened Salman, and they even opened fire outside his Bandra house in April, which really increased Salman’s security at that time.

Another recent case is that of Shaikh Hussain Shaikh Mausin, a vegetable vendor from Jamshedpur, who was caught for sending a threat message to the WhatsApp helpline of the Mumbai traffic police, demanding ₹5 crore. This pattern of threats made against public figures and demand for ransoms raised security concerns for law enforcers.

The Threat to Zeeshan Siddiqui: Post Baba Siddique's Death

The most recent threats against Zeeshan Siddiqui surfaced barely weeks after his father, former MLA Baba Siddique, was murdered. Reportedly very close to Salman Khan, the killing of Baba Siddique has already left a shadow on the safety of the Siddiqui family and other persons with whom he had ties. The Mumbai Police have pressed the accelerator on the probe and increased their already sustained efforts at curbing organized crime and safeguarding prominent persons being targeted in ransom and extortion plots.
