Kevin's Record-Breaking Height: A New Canine Champion

Kevin, the Great Dane, has captured the hearts of many by officially becoming the world’s tallest living male dog. Measuring an astounding 0.97 meters (3 feet 2 inches) from his feet to his withers, Kevin’s height rivals that of a three-year-old child. This impressive measurement surpasses the average height for male Great Danes, typically around 0.76 meters (2 feet 6 inches) to the withers. Kevin has taken over the title from his predecessor, another Great Dane named Zeus, who sadly passed away at the age of three.

A Loving Home in Iowa

Kevin lives with his devoted owners, Tracy and Roger Wolfe, in West Des Moines, Iowa. The Wolfe household is a lively place, with their children Alexander (12) and Ava (10) contributing to the bustling environment. Alongside Kevin, the family cares for a variety of animals, including three other dogs, four cats, chickens, goats, and horses.

Despite his grand stature, Kevin embodies the term “gentle giant.” He enjoys nothing more than lounging on the couch, even if it means nudging someone out of his favorite spot. Kevin’s affection for snuggles is well-known, though he has a pronounced fear of the vacuum cleaner, which he refuses to let come within six feet of him.

A Skittish Giant

Kevin’s skittish nature extends beyond household appliances. Measuring him for the official record was a challenge as he was easily spooked by the measuring tape. Tracy, who works at a veterinary clinic, shares anecdotes of Kevin’s timid personality. “Kevin is scared of most things,” Tracy explains. “He is terrified of the vacuum. He won’t let it come within six feet of him! He will jump and run to get away from it.”

Kevin’s nervous disposition was on full display during his first training class at the youth organization 4-H, where he was so frightened that he had an accident in the middle of class. Fortunately, he has since overcome his initial fears and now enjoys attending these sessions.

A Big Baby in a Giant Body

At the veterinary clinic, Tracy often brings Kevin along, but despite his size, he behaves like a big baby, unaware of his enormous stature. “When Kevin, or any of my dogs, come to my clinic, I put a baby gate up in the door of my office to keep the dogs in,” Tracy explained. “I don’t think he’s aware he is as big as he is. He’s continuously trying to squeeze into small beds and sit on top of us, and do everything that the smaller dogs do.”

Kevin has a unique way of sitting due to his long legs, often backing his rear end onto Tracy’s lap while keeping his front feet on the ground. This quirky habit is one of the many endearing traits that make Kevin so special.

A Special Addition to the Family

Kevin joined the Wolfe family after they experienced the loss of their beloved Great Dane, Cora. “He reminded me so much of Cora,” Tracy confessed. “Both were black mantle Danes. The timing was perfect for us to bring Kevin into our lives, especially for the kids.”

Kevin has formed a particularly close bond with Alexander, spending most of his time with him. Despite his lazy demeanor, Kevin maintains his svelte figure by eating between six and ten cups of food daily. His favorite activity? Taking naps and holding down the couch.

A Star in the Spotlight

Wherever Kevin goes, he attracts attention. People often mistake him for a horse, even suggesting that he could be saddled up and ridden. This attention doesn’t bother Kevin; he enjoys being
