Ryan Phillippe is reliving old memories.
The actor made the odd decision of uploading a flashback photo with Reese Witherspoon via his Instagram Stories Monday.
The 49-year-old actor commented, “We were hot and drenched in late ’90s angst,” before tagging his ex-wife in the 2001 photo from the “Legally Blonde” premiere. “(such a more pleasant era than now).”
Reese Witherspoon won’t give her buddy her first name just because she doesn’t use it.
Witherspoon’s “Big Little Lies” co-star Nicole Kidman joined her for the interview with Vanity Fair, whereupon Kidman chastised Reese for referring to Laura Dern by her last name.
“However, I detest your calling her Dern! since it sounds so strange. Every time I say “Laura,” you respond, “No, Dern!” stated Kidman.
“You know why? Because my name is Laura, and her name is Laura. And it’s confusing to me,” she said. Reese’s legal name is Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon.Â
“Oh! That’s right,” Kidman quickly remembered.Â
“So, I get confused and just call her Dern,” Witherspoon replied. “We can’t both be Laura.”
In a lighthearted reply, Witherspoon said, “I don’t understand your point.” “Your tone bothers me. It just doesn’t make sense since you’re attempting to understand something.”
The “Legally Blonde” actress reminisced about a happy moment she shared with Dern while filming the popular HBO series.
I said to her over the phone, ‘Dern, I was so funny today.'” She exclaims, “Oh my God.” I laughed so hard in my scene yesterday, Reese, Reese. “I know, I know,” I said. But wait a moment. Nicole is in the most serious drama I’ve ever seen, so I went to work today,” Witherspoon remarked.
The actresses burst out laughing quite fast.
“That’s right!” Kidman made a joke.
Witherspoon added that she didn’t think “Big Little Lies” would be a hit at first.
“It’s not going to work,” Reese remembered telling Laura. “And it frickin’ worked.”
The show, which also stars Shailene Woodley and Zoë Kravitz, was so successful that a second season was ordered, and it debuted in 2019. In 2017, it won eight Emmy Awards out of 21 nominations.
In their November Vanity Fair interview, the actresses talked about the upcoming season of “Big Little Lies,” with Kidman confirming that there will be a third.
We’re advancing quickly and violently. Liane Moriarty, the author, is presenting the book. We’re doing well,” Kidman remarked.
“Big Little Lies” filmmaker Jean-Marc Vallée passed away unexpectedly in 2021 at the age of 58.
Kidman said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, “It’s difficult to fathom someone as alive, active, and present as Jean-Marc not being there. I’m completely broken.
“He was at the center of my creative universe, and I can’t overstate his significance to me,” Kidman said. In addition to bringing me some of the most fulfilling work experiences of my life, Jean-Marc’s love, friendship, and kindness served as a source of inspiration that I will always remember.
“I will always treasure the evenings spent filming in Big Sur above the thunderous waves. Nothing is better than that. I will always be appreciative of the time I spent with this remarkable person. Jean Marc, forever.”
